a dog's name...

a student just told me a story about her neighbors that have a dog named (insert - belly's actual name).

i mentioned that i have a daughter named (insert - belly's actual name).

she smiled and told me it's funny that i gave my daughter a name that sounds more like a dog's name.

is it weird that i'm offended by a seven year old's comment?

and...
do you share your children's real names on your personal blog? any advice on this matter (pro or con)?? i could keep the title of my blog the same...it's just getting more and more difficult to remember to only write their nicknames (blame mama brain)! i LOVE their real names so much. as i'm getting to know more of you better...i wish i could share with you!

also...
what do y'all think of the new bloggy look? it's in the works...i was feeling cramped by my old layout...

Kids are weird...don't be offended by her comment. We named our "puppy" Lily...which is the name I wanted for DD but got totally voted down on it. DD feels bad for me, cause I tell the story to anyone I meet, so she thought it would be a good name for the dog...bless her. She told me the other day she was tired of her name, and wanted to go with Josie..which happens to have been my #2 girl name...poor thing...she got name #3.

BTW I would keep the names off...I think that it's just safer...besides, you never know what kind of lurkers you may be getting...

Love, love the new look! Although I was reading your post in reader and was thinking "huh? It looks exactly the same!"

I sort of assume that all 7 year olds are insane, so please keep that in mind and discount the offensiveness. Or immediately get a dog and name it after that kid.

I keep my kids' names off my blog, but I'm getting tired of calling them "my son" and "my daughter" And yet Y chromosome and X chromosome seems so impersonal. And besides, I'm not sciency and can never remember which is which.

I use nicknames for safety reasons, but I am not sure it is entirely necessary.

Love the new look:)

I use my kid's names, but they are both on the nation's top 10 list so I feel pretty safe. :) I don't use my name, since it is VERY unique and I don't use our last name at all. I have thought about changing it, it would be a pain and I use their names in other's comments section, so they are out there....it's just up to you and what you feel you are ok with on your comfort level.

I'm with Dawn. I named our first dog after the girl name I wanted that The Hubs hated.

I think you know I'm torn on this one, too. I used nicknames for the kids. I use my own name because I often link to my more "professional" blogging. I don't know that I'd ever feel comfortable using kids real names, but the NNs are wearing on me.

Love the blog look!

I had the name Bailey picked out for my future child (with ex-husband). My sister knew this and named her puppy Bailey. I was PISSED!

I use alas names for my family because we are in the witness protection program. Just kidding, we are just living in Utah, which feels like the WPP. Hubby is very private and made me change their names. I sometimes catch myself calling my son by his internet name. He is very confused.

The blog looks great! I've mentioned my kids' real names a couple of times, but usually I use initials. It wears on me too. I adore their names!
